The Philiad will never be known for wicked programming or techknowhow, but it does at least have great headers. These come courtesy of Andy, my first ever travel buddy. Not only did he design my first customised header, but he’s offered to (hand) draw an ongoing series of headers for The Philiad.
I’m not sure where the interest in cartoon skeletons came from, but it existed in some inchoate form prior to my arrival in Mexico. In Mexico, with its Day of the Dead celebrations and grisly archaeology, this interest has grown into something huge and all-consuming. Which is why every one of my Mexican headers has featured/will feature skeletons or skulls.
As Andy continues to design headers, and especially as I continue to move from place to place (thus inviting more headers; one day these might not even involve skulls!), I’ll be keeping a gallery of past headers here. We already have the next header lined up; it’ll be making an appearance soon.
You can see more of Andy’s art at his site, Halloween Alley.

This is awesome! I don’t think I’ve ever come upon a blog that collects/publicly shares its past headers. Love it (and love the current one, too).
Thanks Cheri! Although really all the credit for this goes to my friend; I just tell him I’m ready for a new header, and mention something like ‘skeletons’ or ‘New York’, and he does the rest.
